(Pitchfork) Angel Haze - 'Cleaning Out My Closet'

Angel Haze is known for her ferocious flow and confident delivery. On 'Cleaning Out My Closet', the 21-year-old rapper shows a softer side. Over the beat from the Eminem song of the same name, Haze re-lives growing up in a household where sexual abuse ran rampant. She’s brave, to say the least, opening up about how she was abused at seven years old and painting a very real picture of sexual acts that she was forced to regularly perform at home.

She expresses how she felt towards men after she was abused: "I was extremely scared of men, so I start liking girls/ I started starving myself, fucked up my bodily health/ I didn’t wanna to be attractive to nobody else/ But there’s a fuckin’ reason behind every scar that I show." It's a well-executed and emotional effort from one of hip-hop’s current up-and-comers.
