TBH and TBF, no British femcee can lyrically step to Little Simz right now. That’s a big statement to make, I know, but it’s one I’m standing by for the time-being. In less than six months, this north London lass has blown up the net with just a few SoundCloud streams—even Jay Z rates her space—and the latest to catch a flame is in the form of a freestyle she’s calling, Barz Simzson. Despite its title, however, the two-minute winner is no joking matter: over a trap-leaning production from Chi-Town’s Hank Iving, 19-year-old Little Simz doubles-up on the flow, reps her "ends," looks to the future ("I'm a young Steve Jobs/When I get to 21, I’ma be handing out jobs…") and challenges the music industry’s perception of the female lyricist.
