MTV IGGY: SLK Unveils The Stunning 'Be'

By Joseph 'JP' Patterson

You thought grime’s SLK crew were reuniting for a minute there, didn’t you? Nope. This SLK (pronounced Silk) is a one-woman-band from London, whose heavy, smoky soul is currently getting mad love out here in these streets. The UK’s seemingly becoming the hotspot for new alt-soul/R&B acts, with one popping up on SoundCloud every other day, but the talent so far – from Kwabs to Ego Ella May – has been bang on the money, so we are not complaining.

SLK joined the gang just two months ago with her debut track, Ride, and already the blog world-approved number has seen a follow-up in Be, a brooding, synth-laden cut produced by Embody that has all the eye-closing, head-swaying qualities you’ll ever need and want in life. The unsigned songstress put the track up for free download, too, so get into it after the jump.
