Happy Birthday To...Me!

I’ve been so busy recently that I forgot that it was my blogs birthday earlier this month. I decided to put together this blog three years ago and I initially made it to write club night reviews, but it went off into a direction that I’d never thought it would. As a young man, who used to jam on the ends, chill with the man dem and go raving all the time, I never thought in a million years that I’d one day become a music journalist. From ChockABlock club night promoter, to blogger, to music journalist? God works in mysterious ways, I’m telling you!

From writing a 3-page feature on the bassline music scene in 2007 for SUPERSUPER Magazine, I’ve since gone on to write for the likes of The Guardian, The Independent, Mixmag, NME, RWD and can now put The Sun and The Metro in the list of titles too. I’m an editor for MTV for frig sake, I’m still in shock to this day when I look back at my achievements, whilst remaining humble, I’m very proud of myself.

If I look at a how I used to write back in the day, to how I write now, my grammar has improved immensely. I used to have editor’s at some very well-known publications tell me that I shouldn’t be a writer due to my bad spelling and my lack of comma usage, but now I can laugh to myself, because the same editor that put me down, I found my way to write for the publication that they look after. If only you knew that felt. Amazing. But yeah, I hope to have many more years in this music business and now that I’m doing consultancy for brands and record labels, who knows, this might lead me down another path. Jesus has my life in his hands and I can only thank for all of these blessing.

Thanks for taking your time to read my blog over the years folks and I hope you continue to do so in the near future.

I’m going to celebrate with some Gallo White Grenache now : )
